Founded in 1902 as a clearinghouse for ideas to solve common problems of state bank regulators, CSBS has evolved into a vital force that strengthens state banking departments and state financial regulation. Regulator members include all 50 state banking departments plus those of several territories. Regulators are the voting members of CSBS. On behalf of our members, CSBS works to:
- Optimize the authority of individual states to determine the activities of their financial institutions.
- Enhance the professionalism of state banking departments and their personnel.
- Represent the interests of state financial regulators to federal and state policymakers and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure that all banks continue to have the choice and flexibility of the state charter in the new era of financial modernization.
